The
New Zealand Romney Sheep Breeders' Association was incorporated
by Charter in 1904 with the first flocks transferring from the
New Zealand Sheepbreeders' Association in 1904. The Association
at the present time services 450 flocks of Registered Romney sheep
throughout New Zealand from the, furthest North at Awanui to the
furthest South at Tuatapere. The Association is governed by a
ten person Council and the Office is run by a Staff of two.

There
are eight Breeders' Clubs throughout New Zealand and they focus
on activities pertaining to their area interests, i.e., Ram Hogget
Days, Recording Seminars, Judging and Ram Selection Days and such
like. The Association runs a very efficient and cost effective,
Computer Recording Scheme to record Members flocks who wish to use
the service. It uses the Studfax-Plus computer programme and charges
Members $1.00 per Ewe Mated. The Association also has a subsidiary
Company called Sheepfacts Bureau which punches all other breeds
and crosses of sheep for non members also at the same price. As
yet we have not linked into the SIL programme but will as soon as
they come on line. There are two Stud Fairs each year, one at Feilding
in December and other at Gore in January. There are also other private
Stud Sales.
